About this crossing

Point Roberts is the oddity of the Canadian border. It is a piece of Washington State that sits below the 49th parallel on a peninsula, reachable by land only by driving through British Columbia. The border crossing exists because the only road in and out runs through Canadian territory. That geography determines everything about it. There is essentially no commercial traffic, because there is nowhere for commercial traffic to go that would justify the route, and CBP regularly has no reading to publish here. This site shows that honestly rather than as a zero. For a carrier the practical value of knowing about Point Roberts is knowing not to route through it. It is a small community with a border booth, not a freight crossing, and any route that appears to use it as a shortcut through the lower mainland will not work. The crossings at Blaine handle the actual traffic.
