IFTA fuel tax rates
Two rates, and why
IFTA publishes a rate for US-licensed carriers and a separate rate for Canadian-licensed carriers wherever the two differ. They are columns here, not one averaged number, because a carrier filing with one licence should not be reading the other licence's rate.
Rates are set quarterly by IFTA, Inc. from each jurisdiction's own fuel tax statute, and shown in the unit that statute uses: cents per litre in Canada, and per gallon in the US. Three states also levy a separate surcharge on certain fuel types, which is shown beside the base rate rather than silently added to it.
This is the published tax rate. It is not tax advice, and it is not your filing. Your return depends on litres purchased and distance travelled in each jurisdiction.

US rates are levied per gallon and Canadian rates per litre; both are shown in the unit the jurisdiction actually uses rather than converted, so the figure matches the statute.
