What drives Val d'Or prices

Val-d'Or is a gold mining centre in the Abitibi on the Highway 117 corridor. The market is remote and northern. Highway 117 is the main road running north from the St. Lawrence valley into the Abitibi. Gold mining drives the freight, and the long northern distance shapes every route in and out. Carriers serving the Abitibi travel far to reach this market, and the mining industry keeps loads moving once they arrive. It is a northern mining town at the end of a long highway.
