What drives Gaspé prices
Gaspé sits at the eastern end of Quebec on Highway 132. Fishing and forestry anchor the local economy. The market is remote, and that remoteness pushes prices high. Highway 132 is the long coastal route that is the only road in and out. Every load of fuel and freight travels far to reach this market, and that added distance shows at the pump. Carriers running the Gaspé peninsula pay more here because the supply chain itself is longer than anywhere else in the province.
