Saskatchewan diesel prices
Across the line
Diesel crosses the border, but the number does not. The Canadian side is published per litre and the American side per gallon.
The American figure is the EIA weekly retail survey — published as $6.407/gal this week — shown the way an American carrier reads it, with the Canadian-dollar equivalent beside it. A gallon is not a litre, so these two lines measure the same fuel in different units and the cents will never match. What does compare is the market: a load crossing at Rocky Mountain buys its fuel somewhere else.

What drives Saskatchewan prices
Saskatchewan is consistently among the cheapest provinces in the survey, and the reason is that it is close to the product rather than far from it. In the Natural Resources Canada print dated 29 September 2026 the province averaged 248.2 cents per litre, 12.7 cents below the national index of 260.9.
The Regina refinery and the Alberta refining complex both sit within practical hauling distance, and Saskatchewan's own consumption is spread thinly across a large area with a small population. A province that produces and passes through more fuel than it burns prices closer to the wholesale market than a province that has to import and distribute.
Four cities carry the average: Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Prince Albert. That is a reasonable spread of the settled province but it says nothing about the north, where the haul is long and the volume is low. If you run to La Ronge or the oilfield roads, the posted provincial figure will understate what you pay, and the difference is the same one that shows up in every remote market on this site: fewer litres to spread a fixed delivery cost across.
One caution on every figure here. The NRCan survey measures posted retail, not cardlock. Your fuel card price is usually below the posted average. Use your own card for a specific fill and this number to see which way the province is moving.

Every price is an NRCan survey observation from the print dated Tue, 29 Sep 2026. The provincial figure is the unweighted mean of these 4 cities, the same figure that enters the Northern Mile Diesel Index. Prices include all federal and provincial fuel, carbon, and sales taxes.
